Another example of faceless politicians with no accountability making horrendous decisions that cost us taxpayers billions of dollars. The whole board should be sacked, they obviously don't know what they are doing. Now we have to pay for it. Government, stay out of projects lest you want to be personally responsible for paying for your mistakes. You can't keep moving the goalposts after the engineering and construction began. There has to be a better way to get things done.

Not surprising to those of us who are in the automotive industry. EV's work for commuting in major metropolitan area's like Vancouver, but commercial, towing and rural applications don't necessarily work for everyone. Government should get out of this and let the market grow organically without mandates.

Message ActionsA couple of things about EV's. 1) they depreciate much faster than an ICE vehicle and after 8 years with no battery warranty, they become a boat anchor basically. 2) They are heavy, and you need to rotate your tires at least once a year, if not two, or you are going to be buying lots of sets of tires. Like ICE vehicles, they need servicing, but for different reasons. 3) Don't own them, lease them in a closed ended lease so you are not liable for the battery and the depreciation. EV's are good for basic transportation in major urban centers. Rural, towing and commercial applications are not good choices for an EV. My professional opinion.

Another genius government wastes $82 million taxpayer dollars on an unproven product. I wonder if they included the optional $12,000 hammers. This needs to be fully vetted before a decision is made on it. The ramifications could be disastrous for our economy and people need to understand what it means.

I get the feeling our governments are trying to paddle upriver instead of riding the natural current downriver and wasting their energy and focus.
