Update 1.4.4 for Grounded includes a new feature for the Switch – gyro aiming controls – along with additional PlayStation features and bug fixes. Grounded is developed by Obsidian Entertainment and released on the Switch in April 2024 as part of the final content launch of the game.
A Honey I Shrunk the Kids-esque survival crafting title, Grounded features different playable characters facing off against dangers in a backyard. Building a base, collecting resources, crafting, and battling various insects can cause Mutations. These Mutations change how Grounded plays, being similar to earnable skills players need to trigger with different actions. There are a variety of areas to explore, though players with arachnophobia may take issue with the large number of spider enemies found throughout.

Update 1.4.4 adds two new features to the game, one for Grounded's Switch version and one for the PlayStation version. Switch players can now use gyro aiming controls, which are enabled or disabled under the Options menu. They can also unlink their Microsoft accounts from the game, allowing someone else to play Grounded on the same device. This process can take up to 15 minutes to show on the system, so players may take a gaming break when switching accounts. The PlayStation version has had Adaptive Trigger support added, as well as being able to unlink Microsoft accounts.
The final content update for Grounded was 1.4, with multiple smaller patches addressing various issues that cropped up. Titled Fully Yoked, the update added ant domestication, baby ants, new structures to build and items to craft. It also introduced New Game+, allowing those that had completed the main story to replay it with additional content. This included insects infused with Raw Science, new Trinkets, and further weapon updgrades.
In 1.4.4, some of the fixes address crossplay problems when trying to join games, multiple crash causes, and Arcane Archer not working as intended. Others focus on CPU usage and cutscenes. The Four Leaf Clover cave will finally render as intended for Switch players. Additional tweaks to Remix.D Yard (NG+) were also implemented.
With no new content planned for the title, many fans are calling for a Grounded sequel, whether it takes place in a new location or continues directly after the first game ends. Whether another Grounded title is in the works is unknown, as no hint of it has been mentioned by Obsidian. The potential for future content releases is also unknown, though Fully Yoked being labeled the final content patch by the team pretty much seals the deal. Additional information on the fate of the IP moving forward hasn't been released.
